From the Anthony and Macavity award-winning author of Murder at Five Finger Light.

After healing from knee surgery, Jessie Arnold can’t wait to train for the Iditarod, but she and her dogs must work hard to qualify. Jessie’s practice run goes smoothly until her sled hits a bump along the trail—a dead body. What the kid was doing on a musher's trail with no sled or dogs is anyone’s guess. And in a chilling moment, Jessie realizes that the case hits close to home.

“[Sue Henry’s] grasp of tense storytelling and strong characterization matches her with Sue Grafton. Give her a try—she’ll challenge your powers of perception and deduction.”—The Colorado Springs Gazette

Lee Adams gives a serviceable narration of Henry's latest Alaska Mystery, featuring sled- dog driver Jessie Arnold, her state trooper boyfriend, Alex, and her clever friend, Maxie. It all starts when Jessie's sled runs over a body, which turns out to be that of a local young man who's been shot. Identifying his killer takes some time, surveillance, interviews, conjecture, and a high-action climax. Unfortunately, these are all delivered at the same pace. Adams's voice is clear and pleasant, and she does put some juice into conversations--but no real emotion. This makes for pleasant, if unexciting, listening. Some questions are left unanswered--no doubt for the next installment of this popular series. J.B.G. (c) AudioFile 2008, Portland, Maine
